Banff, Lake Louise, Whistler, Rogers Pass in the Selkirk Mountains. Skiing in Canada is reknown around the world. From remote glacier traverses on the Coast to tree skiing in the interior ranges of British Columbia to hut to hut ski touring and off-piste runs in the Canadian Rockies, we have it all. I have worked as a ski guide in all these areas for years and have a wealth of knowledge of the terrain and the snow conditions.
For years I worked as a ski patroller, then as a heli-ski guide. These days I prefer ski touring which I feel brings me closest to the purest essence of skiing. Moving under my own power with a small group of companions, travelling into quiet mountain valleys and onto high summits, searching for the best snow on the best line away from the maddening crowds. That's skiing!

Backcountry Lodge Based Ski Touring
Backcountry lodges are tucked away in many corners of British Columbia big snow country, from Nelson to Smithers. They are incredibly comfortable, with experienced chefs, saunas and showers to put the icing on the powder skiing cake. In 2008 we have a trip headed to Valkyr Lodge in the Selkirks from February 4-11 and a week at the Campbell Icefield Chalet, from February 23-March 1. Backcountry lodge based skiing.
Rogers Pass Ski Touring
This is the world-famous centre for randonee and telemark ski touring, just a 2 hour drive west from Banff - Lake Louise. Based in the comfortable Best Western hotel at the summit of the pass, we have a variety of ski options available to us right from the door of the hotel or only a few minutes drive away. Spaces have been added to our trip from January 25-29 or contact me for details on private guiding in Rogers Pass. Ski Rogers Pass.
Wapta Icefield, Hut to Hut Ski Traverses
The classic Canadian ski traverse. Starting at Bow Lake, a short drive north of Lake Louise, we stay in comfortable Alpine Club huts situated at regular intervals across the icefield before finishing back at Lake Louise. This winter our Wapta Traverse is scheduled for February 15-18, or contact me for details of a private guided trip on the Wapta. Traverse the Wapta.
Ski Expeditions
This year we plan two ski expeditions. First, we continue the Great Divide Traverse series by skiing from Jasper to the Clemenceau Icefield in late March and early April. Then, in late April, we will ski from Tsar Mountain to Mt Clemenceau. Go on a Ski Expedition.
Lake Louise Day Tours
Many options are available for day trips in the Lake Louise area. Try your hand at powder skiing, make an ascent of a local peak or just get out and enjoy the scenery. Lake Louise Day Tours.
Banff - Lake Louise Off-Piste Skiing
Both Sunshine Village and Lake Louise ski areas have a variety of off-piste ski runs available. Ski with a local and find the local's stashes! Ski Off-Piste.
