Peyto - Bow Glacier Traverse
Join us for a trip across the Wapta Icefield in the Canadian Rockies. No mountaineering experience is required, just some physical fitness and a sense of adventure!
On the Bow Hut trail
What the trip is about
We start the trip at Peyto Lake. A six to eight hour hike gets us to the Whyte Hut at the head of the Peyto Glacier. Along the way we learn how to rope up for the glacier and walk on the snow and ice. After a night at the comfortable hut we continue over the icefield and descend past the Bow Hut, finishing the trip at Bow Lake.
Who should come?
If you are fit and done some longer hikes in the mountains before you should enjoy this trip. Backpacking experience would be an asset but not absolutely essential. No mountaineering experience is necessary and we can supply the necessary climbing equipment - harnesses, crampons and ice axe. You will need to bring a pair of sturdy hiking boots.
