Rock peak scramble Gear List
I can provide helmet and harness at no extra charge if you require.
Boots
Boots designed for mountaineering are best. These are stiff, mostly leather, waterproof, with full ankle support and a stiff, lug sole.
Backpacking boots that are mostly leather but may not have as stiff a sole are good.
Some softer shoes that are mostly leather and have ankle support are OK but not recommended.
Soft hiking shoes that are mostly fabric, do not have ankle support, and have bendy soles will not work.
If you are uncertain that you have the appropriate footwear, please send a photo of your boots and we can discuss.
I do not have boots to borrow or rent. Options for boot rental are: Gear Up (Canmore).
A climbing boot like this is BEST
A backpacking boot like this is GOOD
A hiking shoe like this is JUST OK but not recommended
A walking shoe like this is NOT ALLOWED
Safety gear
Helmet - needs to be designed for climbing and in good condition - we can provide a helmet.
Harness - a sit harness with a belay loop - all soft safety gear such as a harness needs to be less than 10 years old - we can provide a harness.
